The same silhouette you know and love, with a few subtle refinements. This version is constructed with softer leather inside and out, creating a closer, more foot-hugging fit with gentle give as you move. The feel is slightly less structured than the previous Maria, while still maintaining support and shape. Underfoot, we kept what matters most: our wool-lined, cushioned, arch-supportive insole, layered over our signature cork & latex support sole.
- Updated interior lining (2026): now in soft vegetable tanned leather (previously wool lined)
- Signature wide toe box: natural toe splay with zero squeezing.
- Premium leather upper: buttery-soft, durable, and comfortable with little to no break-in.
- Wool-lined insole: removable, arch-supportive, moisture-wicking, and odor-neutralizing.
- Cork comfort sole: contoured cork blended with natural latex for cushioned ease.
- Low heel cup: helps keep the mule comfortably in place

I ordered my usual size, and they fit well. I have narrow feet, but I'm used to wearing medium width shoes. I have flat feet too, so I appreciate the arch support. These are nice looking shoes that go with all of my fall and winter pants.

I ordered this shoe because I wear a 10 1/2 and was hoping this would be a true medium 10 1/2. But nope, it is not. It’s a little short and a little wide in the toe box. I’m going to keep them and try inserts that hopefully will help address the issue.
Your sizing is very confusing in that it is so different between the styles of shoes.

They fit me great I had ankle replacement 3 months ago and these will work well with the new orthotics the doctor will prescribe to me in a few months

Beautiful shoe but too narrow for my feet. My Stegmann Essenz wool clogs (pictured left, size 8) may be the best shoes I've owned but unfortunately the Maria (pictured right, size 8.5) runs much more narrow.

These are great and I can’t recommend them more! Very comfortable, I was able to wear them with no breaking in period. I am usually a 7.5 and an 8 fit perfect. A 7.5 would have been too small if they ran in half sizes.

Beautiful Quality as usual- but. When the lining changed from wool to leather, the grip of the shoe on my foot while wearing socks was lost. They kept slipping off. I was really disappointed and I returned them. Please bring back the wool lining.

I was so pleased when this shoe arrived. I had been looking for shoes like this for months. The "Maria" leather mule is a beautifully crafted, quality shoe. Unfortunately, I have foot issues (bunions, and a hammertoe) and the shoes hurt the moment I stepped into them. Sorry to say that they are being returned. It really is a beautiful shoe and am disappointed that they don't work for me.

Beth - The Maria Mule is comfortable for everyday walking and errands. Since it is an open-back style, your heel may lift slightly as you walk, but the contoured footbed helps keep your foot securely in place.
