I measure an 8.5 (L) and 8.75 (R) and got a size 8.5 sample in this shoe...
I've jealously watched friends adopt the sleek ballet flat trend this last year. But alas, with bad arches, plantar fasciitis and blister prone feet I know this trend was not for me. Enter Stegmann! We took this minimalist trend and upgraded it from flimsy fabric, mesh or thin leather uppers to an innovative stretch leather that provides both flexibility and support. We also added ARCH SUPPORT! With this shoe you get the famous Stegmann cork comfort sole and cushy arch support insert. I'm not exaggerating - the cushion and support in this shoe feel better than my Nikes.
I think this style would be amazing for women with high arches or who need a higher instep than the Liesl could accommodate. The Helene is quite open on top compared to the Liesl, yet it still feels very secure on your foot - it almost shows toe cleavage, but not quite.
I think the best fit for this style is to go for snug out of the box. I had a tiny bit of heel slip on the true 8.5 left foot but the slightly larger right foot felt perfectly snug when I walked. My right toe touched the end a bit at first but it wasn't painful at all and the shoe eventually molded to fit my feet and wasn't an issue. If you have a very narrow heel you may want to add the heel grips we sell. But I think the fit tip here is order your regular size or size down if you're a medium or low volume foot. Only size up if you're on the wider side.
