Women's Alpine Comfort Wool Slipper

I ordered the Alpine once before and returned it, because it didn't have as much support as the wool clogs. But I'm going to Japan and I want to bring my own packable slippers for inside use. I'm a 9 1/2 and normally wear a 40 regular in Birkenstocks. I ordered the 41 in this Alpine slipper and it's just right lengthwise and there's plenty of room widthwise. My hand can feel arch support and a toe bar, but my feet can't feel the arch or the toe bar. The inside of the slipper feels flat to me when I'm wearing them. The toe area has some sort of plasticky coating that should prevent my toenails from wearing through the wool at the toe. The sole is nonslip, which is better than my Haflingers, which get slippery after a while. The Alpine slippers fit in my purse, so I can take them with me. I'll put them in a nylon shoe sock.

Attractive, warm slippers. No arch support but very comfortable in spite of that.

These slippers are wonderful. They are warm and soft. They have a roomy toe box, similar to that found in Steggman's clogs. The stretchy knit conforms to your unique foot shape within an hour or two of wearing the first time (at least that was my experience), but the slipper still keeps its shape on the outside. The support is gentle -- less than a clog -- but much better than any other slipper I have tried. The sole is thin and flat, but it gives the slipper good traction and makes it more durable. I wear an 8 1/2 in other Steggmans, but ordered a size 9 (40) in the slippers. They fit very nicely. I am delighted with this product!
