The EcoWool clog is sustainably sourced and responsibly produced. Handmade in our private, carbon neutral, low-waste facility in Tirol, Austria, this shoe represents over 120 years of craftsmanship and environmental stewardship. Sourced from local wool collectives and small farms, this clog financially supports important heritage breeds and farmers. The wool in this clog has been washed and remains natural with no added coloring. Matched with a sustainable, natural cork/latex footbed, it offers exquisite comfort in what may be the most eco-conscious clog ever produced.

    • The Tirolean Stonesheep (Tiroler Steinschaf) is one of the oldest existing sheep species on earth. These sheep have been bred on remote mountain farms for centuries in Tirol for their meat, milk, and wool. Their wool was in high demand especially in the 20th century to produce loden cloth. Today, the Tirolean Stonesheep is a rare species. The estimated Austrian population is around 4,000 sheep, and 14,000 worldwide.
This clog is part of our Species Preservation Initiative and helps support this rare breed.

    • Shetland sheep are native to the Shetland Islands in Scotland. The breed traces its roots to the ancient Nordic heather sheep and has been recorded in history since the Stone Age. The wool of the Shetland Sheep is very high quality with a high level of elasticity. Once a year, in the springtime, the sheep shed their wool. At that time the wool can be easily loosened and detached without shearing, but rather by picking it.
This clog is part of our Species Preservation Initiative and helps support this rare breed.

    • The Juraschaf is native to Switzerland and spends most of its life in the Alps. The breed is popular in Switzerland and its wool is in high demand for its high quality, dark color and fine fiber structure. It is well known for its ability to thrive in tough alpine conditions. Due to its consistent fleece color, Juraschaf wool is rarely dyed or colored. Raw wool ranges from dark brown to completely black. When blended for our clogs, it produces a rich, deep espresso brown. Juraschaf wool is soft and fine, with all the wonderful natural insulating properties of alpine sheep wool.
This clog is part of our Species Preservation Initiative and helps support this rare breed.

    • Alpaca is a well-known wool producer and is raised all around the world. The wool we use is from the Peruvian Alpaca, which is native to the Andes in South America. Their wool is highly prized for being softer and silkier than cashmere, yet very durable and warm. Our wool is called "baby alpaca" and is sourced from a Fair Trade Certified & Cruelty Free Collective. "Baby Alpaca" does not refer to the age of the alpaca, but rather the grade of the wool - Baby being the finest and softest.

First pair of clogs were flawed. Second pair were perfect. Love the fit and color. I'm very happy with the Ecowool Alpaca Clogs.

    LOVE 💕

after recently experiencing a bout of plantar fasciitis for the first time , i was determined to level up my shoe selection to address the pain and take care of my feet . after coming across the Stegmann website , i was a little hesitant about ordering a more expensive shoe online .... it can be so confusing when customer reviews on size don’t quite match up with the sizing info the shoe company provides , so i wasn’t sure if i should take the websites suggestion and order a full size smaller than my usual shoe size for a snug , no sock fit OR the many reviewers suggestions saying they ordered their regular shoe size or only went up a half size . after checking the Stegman shoe return policy and seeing that it appeared pretty easy , i took the plunge and ordered the eco wool clog a full size smaller than my usual shoe size . when i received them ( oh my are they are pretty !!! ) , i was still unsure if i had picked the correct size . they were snug when barefoot , just how i prefer , but my heel felt as if it were juuuust at the lip of the shoe . given that these natural wool shoes do stretch , the next question was if they would stretch enough to settle my heel snuggly into the cupped heel of the shoe or would they only stretch in the toe area or top cover area 🤷🏼‍♀️ . i decided to send them back and order a half size larger and put them back in the box . a day later i got them out and tried them again and wore them around the house . i also read on the site somewhere to be sure the arch support is correctly under your arch and that your toes are aligned with the slight ridge in the sole of the cog that cradles your toes into the correct position within the shoe . i decided to keep them and i’m glad i did !!! i have been wearing them ALL the time for about a month now and i couldn’t be happier with the fit . the shoe did stretch out a little bit in the overall snug fit , but not to the point of fitting loosely , and that allowed my heel to feel more properly in place as well . they are warm but not too warm ( my feet naturally run hot but never sweat in these clogs ) and seem to have molded into the perfect for me fit . i appreciate the softer footbed , having previously wore birkenstock’s around the house , and i think they are just mighty cute and very well made . i’m pretty sure before the next fall/winter season that i’m going to “need” another pair in another color 🙂. i hope this review helps anyone struggling with making a sizing choice !!
